AnimaLovers was founded in 1995 by a small group of friends who wanted to provide needy cats and dogs in the Capital Region with a better way to find their way to safety and to new lives.
Over the years, AnimaLovers has changed to meet the needs of the area. In 2011 the organization decided to focus on cats and kittens only, and expanded their rescue and veterinary services efforts to provide felines with a clear path to their forever homes.
The volunteers and Board members of the organization developed a trap/neuter/release program for feral cats; they expanded their Foster Home program allowing for better adoption matches; they created programs to help low-income families keep their companion animals healthy by providing low cost spay/neuter services and emergency veterinary care, and they established, through the generous support of a benefactor, a program to assist the elderly with limited means, to care for their cats.
In addition, the group staffs and runs an Adoption Clinic at the East Greenbush PetSmart, where hundreds of cats and kittens each year are adopted to loving families.
AnimaLovers is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization. All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
