Samaki Smoked Fish only sources the best all-natural ingredients for its products. Everything is hand-cured and smoked in small batches in brick kiln ovens. The methods of curing and smoking take longer, but to make a delicious product, you have to put in the effort.
The company started in East Africa, on the slopes of Mt. Kenya. A fellow named Simon Marrian was busy running safari camps. In his spare time, he took up a unique hobby: smoking fish! He started with yellowfin tuna and, before he knew it, was experimenting with a whole bunch of local varieties. What began as a fun pastime turned into a bustling business with a fabulous reputation that crossed borders!
Fast-forward to 1983, when Simon and his family decided to shake things up by moving to the United States and making a new home in the picturesque Hudson Valley. They kicked things off in a cozy stone barn on their property until they upgraded to their current smokehouse in the early 2000s. In that barn, Simon crafted his one-of-a-kind brick kiln smokers, a design still in action today!
As the years passed, Simon’s son Jason jumped into the family business as a teenager and has taken the reins. Jason carries on the family legacy of crafting incredible smoked fish with care and dedication.
At Samaki Smoked Fish Company, they wear their family-run badge with pride! Their passion and commitment to excellence shine through in every delicious bite. Their all-natural, artisanal smoked fish isn’t just a product; it reflects who they are and what they love!
