The Orange County Farmers’ Museum is a private, non-profit organization supported by donations, events, and programs on its 37.5-acre grounds in Montgomery, NY. The museum houses an extensive collection of farm implements dating back to the 1700s from farms in Orange County. Additionally, the museum offers educational activities for children and adults and operates mainly with the help of volunteers who dedicate over 3500 hours each season.
The museum also has an exhibit at the Annex location at Museum Village in Monroe, NY. Many of the farm implements on display are in working condition and provide insight into the history of agriculture in Orange County. The museum is accessible to the public and relies on donations, memberships, sponsorships, and earnings from its concession stand.
From May 15 to October 1, visitors can explore the collection, attend hands-on demonstrations, and enjoy various events. The museum has expanded over the years and now includes two barns, a blacksmith shop, a workshop, a sawmill, a barnyard, and a memorial building, as well as the Farmers Memorial Education Center with heated restroom facilities.
