The Farm

Their four-acre farm, “Purdy’s Farm,” is located next to their restaurant, Purdy’s Farmer & The Fish, in North Salem and supplies all of its produce. They aim to grow and serve the freshest, most nutrient-dense, and sustainable food. They harvest vegetables seven days a week and bring them straight from the farm to the kitchen’s back door. To help close the nutrient cycle from farm to kitchen, they compost pre-consumer food waste and use that material, along with natural rock minerals, to nourish the soil ecosystem, which in turn nourishes the plants and ultimately them. They even produce their fertilizer each year with seaweed and unused fish parts. The plants grown on the farm rely on diverse underground biology, and they go to great lengths to support soil life and reap the benefits of the abundant earthworm castings beneath the mulch. Their hydroponic greenhouse enables them to grow salad greens, bibb lettuce, herbs, and microgreens year-round.
